Our founder, Marion Savard (b. 1918 d. 2001), loved the “Big Band Sound” of the 1930s, 40s, and 50s and just wanted to play her Alto Saxophone. String of Pearls Big Band was her dream, and since the early 1980s, the band’s mission has stayed the same – keep the sounds of Big Band Swing and The Great American Songbook alive and well for future generations. Some of the names and faces have changed over the years, but 40 years later, String of Pearls Big Band continues to serve our communities with quality, family-friendly entertainment.
